WIN IT FOR US!

Messages of support have flooded in from across the city as Hull FC prepare to take on Leeds Rhinos in tomorrow's Challenge Cup Final.

The city is holding its breath hoping Hull FC come back from Cardiff holding the cup.

SPORTS fans across the city today had one message for Hull FC: Bring us back the cup!

Thousands of fans were today preparing to invade Cardiff to roar on the Airlie Birds at the Millennium Stadium for Hull FC's biggest game in 20 years.

Buses have been booked out for weeks, train tickets snaffled up within days and rooms in Cardiff filled weeks ago.

Supporters have come from across the country and from around the world to support Hull FC and the city is bound to grind to a halt as the teams kick-off at 2.30pm tomorrow.

Today, Hull FC were backed for success by the old and the young, with sports fans and civic leaders united in hoping they come back victorious. Regulars at the Brickmakers' Arms, in Walton Street, west Hull, have been preparing for weeks.

Andy Bigby, 48, of Pulman Street, west Hull, is making the journey to Cardiff.

He said: "We can bring the cup back. I have no doubt.

"I've never known an atmosphere like the one at the semi-final against St Helens and I'm sure it will be the same tomorrow."

Another regular, Mike Day, 34, of Beckhole Close, west Hull, said: "Hull FC is a brilliant team and we deserve the cup."

Before leaving for Cardiff, Hull FC coach John Kear said: "We want the fans to make a noise and raise the spirits of the lads. The fans have been magnificent right through this campaign. They made the semi- final feel like a home game."

Lord Mayor Bryan Bradley is also going to Cardiff. He said: "If Hull FC play with as much determination as they did against St Helens, I'm sure they can shock Leeds.

"We will look forward to seeing the team on the civic tour and reception on Sunday, whether they win or lose. We're very proud.''
