Plans to transform derelict Boothferry Park with a major new housing development go before councillors next week.
If approved, the famous old stadium in west Hull would be demolished.
HULL City's former Boothferry Park ground could be demolished by the middle of next year.
Outline proposals to build homes on the site will go before city councillors next week. If approved, the stadium is likely to be torn down next summer.
As the Mail revealed in March, site owners Paloma Land Ltd want to turn the site into a £50m development of about 350 new flats and houses.
Managing director Eann Smith said his company was anxious to create a high-quality development on the site.
But he said: "We are keen to recycle and redistribute several of the historic structures from the football ground, such as the seating and the goalposts."
If planning permission is secured, talks would be held with supporters' groups and interested individuals over memorabilia from the ground.
A subsidiary of national housebuilder Rowan Ramsey Homes, Paloma has already identified Countryside Properties as its preferred developer for the site.
Although there are no firm details on the planned lay-out or design of the new housing, it is believed it will feature a mix of two and three-storey town houses and three and four-storey apartment blocks.
Talks between Paloma and Kwik Save's owners Somerfield over the fate of the store at the site are continuing.
At the moment, the main Boothferry Park pitch and nearby training pitch are designated as urban green space under local planning policies.
But in a report recommending approval when the scheme goes before the planning committee next week, officers say the development of the KC Stadium has effectively replaced the former green space at Boothferry Park.
"The residential development on this site would be appropriate and would comply with national and local policies for the best use of urban land," they add.
