|
|
As mentioned elsewhere , last saturday i picked up a
Craigduff and a couple of samples from RMW , here are my thoughts...
Sample 1 - 33yo Bunnahabhain Cask #6249 45.5% UCF (RMW bottling).
Colour - Very light for what i'm used to from old Bunny bottlings (too
many ancient butts.....) ,Bright Gold.
Nose - Very fresh , Green Fruits , good sweetness to it .
Taste - Apples (green fruit , Mel got pears), slight bit of smoke and
maltiness.
Finish - lovely finish , lingering honeyness (which i've never had
before !), it's seems to get more malty with every try as well.
What a lovely dram , it's lovely to have a Bunny without the strong
sherry (is this a refill sherry boys ?), think a bottle could be soon
ordered , met with mels approval as well .
Sample 2 - 33yo Bunnahabhain Cask #6248 46% UCF (sister cask to RMW
bottling).
Colour - Bright Gold.
Nose - not as fresh as the first , lots of green fruits as well ,
slight wood , slight sherriness as well , more malty than the first.
Taste - this reminds me of a Bruichladdich ! Dryness with apples ,
gooseberries and a slight maltiness.
Finish - not bad , dry , honey , malty.
Another nice dram but the first wins the cigar !
Craigduff - 1973/32yo Sherry butt #2513 49.4%
Colour - Amber
Nose - real weird , sherry , peat , could be an Islay....
Taste - ok , hows it peaty if it's just the water ? bit maritimey (?)
as well .
Finish - longish and peaty
I'll have to come back to this one after it's been aired a bit to see
what else surfaces , still a cracking dram tho ....different !
Slainté

Strong sherry flavour has ruined a lot of whiskies for me, especially some of the rarer Macallans.
Nice review :D |
