This is an enormous place with lots of noise and the smell of new worked oak filling the air and the smell of burning as the oak casks are charred.
Barrels of different size, port pipes, new oak, bourban barrels fill the storrage area out side waiting to be colected or delivered to the distillery that owns them.
They make or restore about 150.000 barrels a year and for anyone who is interested in whisky this is a must.
The cooperage has a resaurant/cafe, a gift shop where you can pick up anything from a pencil to a garden planter including their own label malt whisky.
The cooperage is between Dufftown and Craigellechie on the whisky trail with distilleries such as glenfiddich, abelour, glenfarclas and glen grant not far away.
You can even visit walkers biscuit factory if you wish.
well worth a visit and somewhere you will want to go back to :D :D :D _________________ i've been on a whisky diet, i've lost 3 days already
