This is a new visitors center which has just opened in 2006, it is 10 miles from Glasgow and appears to be in the middle on a housing estate.

All the buildings are painted white and when you get into the complex it is very nice, at the moment though things are not well signposted.

One problem i have is the the visitors centre is small offering only 3 brands Bowmore, Glen Garioch and Auchentoshan, all 'house brands'. Also the tour is every hour on the hour and although their is somewhere to sit and it is quite pleasant, it would be improved if you could get refreshments, even a tea or coffee. You can sample the whiskies though at £2 a shot.

The tour itself it top class and takes abour 50 mins and you have access to all areas and can take photos as you wish, it is only in production Monday to Thursday and we went on a Sunday so not running however, 2 of the 4 oregan pine washback were full and were ready for distillation.

The mash tum is stainless steel but has the old copper lid and looks the business and their are 3 stills, wash, intermediate and spirit, all quite small (pics below) as this malt is distilled 3 times.

The distillery also has 4 30 feet tall oregan pine washbacks whch look fantastic.

Then we had a chance to go to the warehouses and an explanation of the type of casks that are used and onto the bar for a dram, (review in another section).

It was £3.50 for a tour and that gave you £2 of anything over £20, They also had offers if you bought 3 bottles of malt, one from each of the distilleries showcased.

All in all a good tour.

Nice pictures, thank you Talisker for sharing. Not a bad tour, but if you are the desognated driver with no coffee or tea when you get there then you are not going to be a happy bunny.

If you have a Somerfileds / Kwik Save near you they used to sell McClellands Islay, Highland and Lowland whisky, all of which were so called IB's but were Morrison Bowmore so for £12.99 you either got Bowmore, Glen Garioch or Auchentoshan so not bad and they were aged 10 years if I remember rightly.

Nice pics Talisker! It looks like a nice tour though pity 'bout the visitors centre's lack of bottling choices.
I'll be in that area in a few weeks and my go for a tour myself.
