I saw this film yesterday night at the cinema.
Werner Herzog directed a documental with the films shooted by Tim Treadwell, a guy who lived among wild bears in Alaska for 13 years, till he and a woman who was with him were devoured by a bear classified as Bear 141.

Tim:

Tim only with a camera went to Alaska every summer during 13 years. He filmed 100 hours of footage of his experiences among wild bears, animals of almost 1200 lbs of weight. He always said that you must seems to be cappable of beating a bear. The bear mustnt see your human weakness. If do, you are dead.
The images of Tim living with bears (and many many foxes) are incredibly beauty. Amazing!

Here with a little fox and a huge Grizzly.

A terrible fight filmed by Tim.

Very close to a bear (he was closer so many other times...)

The hydroplane pilot who used to leave him alone every summer found the evidences of his death. He also have tou run for his life in order to avoid being devoured by the same bear. He get into the plane and spoted the place from the heights: he spoted a bear eating a toracic box... Tim's toracic box. He tried with low flights but the bear didn't scare and it only eat faster. He called for help and finally the bear was killed. The pilot also says that Tim would be happy if no one have seen what happened to him and the bear that kill him could live in peace.

In my opinion, Tim was a egotist guy, obsessed with himself. He was happy putting himself in such danger. Possibly he deserved being killed by a bear. Incredibly he lived some many summers in such enviroment without any type of weaponry. He was crazy. The wild life isn't based in love, as he thought, is based in DEATH. Big fishes eat the little ones. So easy. But a beautiful story... very beautiful film!

It's particulary interesting when Tim talks about himself to the camera. He talks about God, life, love...
He started living with bears in order to avoid being drunk. He was an alcoholic. He went to the college and then he started to drink a lot. When he realiced the beuaty of wilderness he decided to let the modern society and the alcohol. He used the bears as a medicine. And the bears cured him... and killed him.
I get shocked when Herzog said that he tried to became an actor. He get the second place in the casting of Cheers in the role of the barman. Shocked That destroyed the last remains of his sanity. He spent the days always drunk since this. What if he gets the role? Can you imagine Woody Harrelson living among wild bears in Alaska? Wink

Woody Harleson is vegan and probably would be into that, he also enjoys a bit of the reefer madness, and people say I'm not down with the kids lingo Very Happy

Saw a documentary about the making of this film and does look quite harrowing, is it easy to watch especially when the director listens to the final tape as they are both killed?

Werner are listening the audio and starts to describe what he hears, Tim shouting to Amie (the girl) "go away, Ami!", "Run! Now!"... but very soon stops talking. We can't see his face, only his back. But his silence and the face of Tim's ancient girlfriend (the girl that inherits Tim's watch, founded in his wrist... far from where founded his chest) is hard enough, for sure.

Though, if I have to choose a word to describe the film, it would be beauty.
