Hi I'm pretty new to whisky was more of a brandy drinker but have recently become interested in the barley as well. Not tried a lot yet but working my way through a few miniatures at the moment just to get a feel of the different malts out there. Quite like a lot of the Speyside whiskies so far and will definitely take a nip of Laphroaig next time I have a cold So far no bad whiskies but I read on one of your posts that I may eventually find the odd one. |

Hi Tim, Welcome to the Whiskyroom!!!!!
I wouldn't worry too much about coming across a bad whisky - they are pretty rare thankfully!!!!!
Just steer clear of Drumgish, & 12 yr old Fettercairn, & you'll be fine!!
Glenfiddich 18yr old is a corking whisky, as is 10 yr old Talisker (Currently on offer for £20 at tesco!! ).
But if you want a dram to really blow your socks off it's gotta be an Ardbeg any day!!!!!!!!!!! _________________ I am The Master, & you will obey me!!!!! |

I also would not bother with cardhu as it is a vatted malt now and not the best but i would agree with the rest, i would also try the talisker 18yo, around £36 from oddbins, a whole new dimension to the talisker family, a bit more expensive but worth the money:beer _________________ i've been on a whisky diet, i've lost 3 days already
