edinburgh is a good choice with lots of whisky shops(some expensive) but some good pubs, cant remember the name but their is a good one in west register street near the corner house.
and in october for stopping over the travel lodge on the royal mile would be cheap as chips!

Aye would of been cheap but now sprogs on the way Scotland may just be for visiting family for me. The other guys may be up for it though and I'll definitely consider it closer the time as usually only with family when in Edinburgh.
