InBev Belgium has clarified reports that it has launched two new beers in its domestic market. Speaking to just-drinks today (14 February), a spokesperson confirmed that the brewer has released a new Leffe beer, but dismissed claims that it has launched a light version of Jupiler.
“We launched Leffe 9° on Thursday,” the spokesperson said. “The new strong beer will initially be available in bottles only in the on- and off-trade, but we may look to launching a draught version in the future.”
Newspaper Le Soir said late last week that InBev Belgium has released Light Jupiler. “I can’t say where that (report) comes from,” the spokesperson added. “We don’t have any plans for a light Jupiler.
“The Belgian market is quite saturated, so we’re working to re-dynamise it. As market leader, we have a pioneering role to play in this market,” the spokesperson concluded.
