Just got a copy off e-bay for £4.95 and its not rated and 96 minutes long, which is longer than the directors cut. No extras but can get those when the directors cut is slashed in a few months time, already £7.99 on CD WOW.

http://www11.cd-wow.com/detail_results_2.php?product_code=253552

Hopefully get to watch it again tonight and see what I think this time Very Happy

Well it's still OK, nothing fantastic and no real scary or edgy moments but the story is OK even though the need for money outside of the city makes no sense, but then again the Dennis Hopper character is just one dimensional.

The extra bit is a scene were Cholo hears crying on the way to see Hoppers character at the beginning with the champagne and cigars. Some guy has hung himself and his wife is crying. Cholo looks for the biggest object possible to kill the guy before he comes back life. I won't say anymore but an alright scene except this means that in his films all that die come back to life not just those taht are bitten.. which in turn means you could never sleep with anyone or if they die in the night they'll be chomping on you by the morning Embarassed Embarassed Exclamation Exclamation Laughing Laughing Laughing

Sorry, I wanted to say hearing a walk-man during a mission in a zombie infested terrain...

Well... You know, Johnny, that this film was very imprtant to me... I saw the three precedent films and always said "a new zombie film by Romero could be marvellous", but I never believe that Romero will make another one... But from the moment that the news about a new zombie film came out I expected Land of the dead with a terrible anxiety!!!
The film haven't got anything in common with the trilogy. It seems that the film was made by a different director... by a Romero "purchased" by Hollywood money... Romero, as Perter Jackson before him, have fallen in the same error.
Romero betrayed all his work and all his zombie and survival horror addict fans...
Not only the money, or the city... it's even more than this. It's the lack of horror, the lack of survival decissions, so much guns and shooting... Resembles a film of Stallone better than a zombie movie...

But I LAUGH SO MUCH with the magnificent Manolete!!! The besto moment of the film, with the piece of "traje de luces" (torero's outfit) in his shoulder over the swat wear... GREAT!

I just hoped the Directors cut would be the reason the cinema version was bad but the extras aren't anything great. There is no anxiety or survival spirit in the film, it is just guns, could be the A-Team do Zombies. I like the premise but not the overall product. I hope the new film which follows on regains hte old masters eye for horror, desolation, last person standing etc., he could do with looking at the BBC series of Day of The Triffids, were you have to rebuild, grow your own food, learn to fend for yourselves again. The idea of a city for me would be to have a big enough area to grow crops and mend veicles, build better defences than electric fences with endless supplies of electricity etc!!

Ah well, good cheesy Saturday evening fodder but as you say not great Romero but still looking forward to the next instalment, honestly Twisted Evil

I would go to the cinema to see the next promised Romero film, of course, I can't avoid that... Simply, I can't. I love zombie films and in the last years we have the opprtunity to see some of them at the cinema (very unussual during 90's).

I was interested but there isn't a topic about "home made beer" or "destilation is so easy" so I forget joinin in this group... Laughing Laughing Beer
Always thinking in purificating the water... for god's shake! If the world ends I don't want water, give me beer at least!

I have a book titled in spanish "La vida en el campo" ("Life in the countryside") by John Seymour that shows you from how to plant vegetables or how to do with an animal farm to make wine, cider, whisky and beer on your own with less materials... Beer Beer You must get a copy of this gorgeous book! Very Happy Very Happy
Tomorrow I will try to find info in the web about this book. Very Happy
