Dram good show as firm wins top prize
A SMALL, independent distillery has beaten industry giants to scoop a prestigious award.
Whisky workers on a Scottish island have come top in the Icons of Whisky Awards run by the Whisky Magazine.
The Isle of Arran distillers has been voted Distiller of the Year and managing director Douglas Davidson today toasted his workforce.

"We've won awards before but to have the top-ranking people in the industry vote us Distiller of the Year is something very, very special.
"We're only a small team at Arran, but this award is testament to all of the dedicated work that goes on at Lochranza and at our Stirling HQ."
The latest award comes just 12 years after the distillery opened in Lochranza after geologists scoured Scotland to find the purest water.
Meanwhile, Glasgow's Pot Still was named the best whisky bar in the world for the second year in a row.
Judges said the world-famous Hope Street whisky bar was "head and shoulders above the rest" and got almost half the votes. It also won Scottish bar of the year.
