GLENFIDDICH 40%

Alright taste but no peaty tang, some creaminess. Slight sweetness.

This was one of the first malts i had many years ago and it really was exceptional compared to alot of the blends around at the time. It doesn't compare to malts now but at the time it was the only available malt in bars etc.

I think it was a lot of peoples first introduction to single malts before they even knew what a single malt was.

if i remember that far back, i think my intoduction to malt was glenfiddich.
i still like it because its and easy drinking malt and does not pretend to be something that it isnt.

Exactly, and the new 12 year old standard OB is exactly that. Really nice easy drinkable whisky. It does get a little too sweet after a glass or two though.

I think that's very true. I do hate these people who try and tell you that Glenfiddich isn't a real malt, or that's it's the worse whisky ever. Unfortunately, over popualrity and it's presence in every pub takes away some of its value.

and why did it become popular, one reason was because their was not much malt about and another is that is was good, i agree with johnny that after a while it does get a little sweet but is a good start if you are going to settle down to a few malts in an evening Razz

Glenfiddich was the first I tried in a bar. I still enjoy it while I'm out. I'm glad someone mentioned it as it seems lacking in mentions on other whisky sites.
