The London Distillery Company will produce the first London single malt whisky in 100 years and will also be the producer of organic London dry gin.

Cornwall’s St Austell Brewery and Healey’s Cyder Farm have joined forces to release the first whisky from the county in over 300 years.

So that's two English whisk(e)y distilleries and a Welsh one but the Shetland one I think was scrapped Confused In a time of recession seems strange that such big ventures can be secured.

Diageo plans to build a major new distillery as well as expand existing sites. Pernod Ricard, the other significant Scotch whisky business, is also considering building new distilleries and has announced a £40 million investment. These developments are great news for the economy.
