you can see this distillery for miles, looks a bit like a factory but the name 'the glenlivet' in big gold letters gives it a way, also the aroma if the wind is in your direction. although you can see it, its a sod to get to the first time.
outside nothing special but inside, wow, very contempory but managing to keep its history alive . ancient and modern. the tour is about 45 mins but well presented and quite comprehensive (they did a longer tour which was more expensive but had a tutored nosing at the end). coffee shop was modern but well thought out and although the shop was not well stocked it had everything i needed. not good access for the disabled visitor as some spiral staircases but still plenty for people to see, loads of car parking as well, on my last visit it was my wifes birthday and we managed 4 distilleries that day, one was glenfiddich and because i was driving, glenfiddich gave me a mini bottle to take away (still managed to snaffle a dram though) _________________ i've been on a whisky diet, i've lost 3 days already

I ike Glenlivet so made a point of visiting this one. Really enjoyed the experience and as you pointed out the longer tour had a tutored tasting which was very enjoyable. Would definitly revisit this one if back in the area. |
