Shame we couldn't of all met up on the Saurday at one of the distilleries, as Blair Athol not open on the Saturday were thinking of starting at Glenturret 10 am, then Aberfeldy 12.30ish and then finishing at Edradour about 3ish. Home on the Sunday, remembering to pick the wife and child up from her parents _________________ https://www.facebook.com/Let-the-drink-talk-675586225966432/ |

glenturret at 10 might just be possible as we are travelling up to oban that day but we like to wonder about a bit rather than go in a straight line and of course we have to stop somewhere for a bite to eat _________________ i've been on a whisky diet, i've lost 3 days already

Hi Tali ,
The Scotch Malt Whisky Society holds tastings in our area on a regular basis , a lot of people find them a bit expensive (usually £25 for 5 caskstrength whiskies plus cheese and biscuits or sometimes a buffet ), you have to be a member to get tickets (or know a member to get you in ).
The next ones i'm going to are :-
Sept 29th -Newcastle Speyside Tasting .
Nov 17th - Newcastle Tasting.
Nov 18th - Newcastle Tasting.
Nov 19th - Newcastle lunch time Food Fest.
Dec 2nd - Durham Xmas tasting .
They hold them at other places as well , details at
http://www.smws.com/shop/events.php?area=North%20of%20England
BTW if when your in Deepest Northumberland your on Holy Island have a look in the Lindisfarne Mead Centre , good selection of SMW , have a look at http://www.lindisfarne-mead.co.uk/Shop/productslist.aspx?CategoryID=4&selection=6
Slainté

I'll make sure that we are in there as soon as it opens on the Saturday and we'll be doing the tour probably but depends if Old Faithful does it next week when he's up. If not doing the tour we'll still hang around for an hour or so and walk to the bonded warehouses etc, could all meet for a coffee. I'll be the fat tired looking englishmen propping up the bar. As far as I can tell it's open at 10 am, Old Faithful won't be drinking as driving but will be taking in all the aromas and sights of the place. We'll have to carry copies of the Times and a red carnation! _________________ https://www.facebook.com/Let-the-drink-talk-675586225966432/ |

thanks for all of this.
this is the first time in 10 years we have not been to lindisfarne. we usually spend a week on the island at marygate house just relaxing and walking. have been to lindisfarne mead many times, some with the hope that they would do a whisky tasting rather than mead. i live in hope _________________ i've been on a whisky diet, i've lost 3 days already
