this was my second visit but i think i got a lot more this time.
quite industrial and not what you expect but all the same a quite imposing set of buildings.
i has a bowling green though. (could'nt get a game).
it has a museum with murals depicting the distilling process and a fantastic, huge model of a distillery.
Excellent tour with knowlegable staff. stills are large but to get the lightness of the malt they are only filled to about 60/65% to give some reflux and a lighter spirit.
the dram was light, malty and a little oily with flowery notes.
If you are very lucky, (we must have gone at the right time as not many people were visiting) you may get to try some other UDV malts. well worth the journey and its less than 3 hours from my doorstep

Another wonderful description of the distillery Talisker, they call it the Edinburgh malt but how easy is it to get to from the city? |
