Did anyone get to see the Dr Who special on Christmas day? I thought It was excellent.! :D The story was a bit pants, but that was to be expected with introducing a new doctor, but it still had a couple of stinging moments! I particularly liked the bit where the English PM sends a message to the US President saying " You're not my boss, we don't want another war!" Also the bit at the end when she orders the destruction of the retreating alien ship, is a direct refference to Thatcher ordering the destruction of the Belgrano in the Fawlklands War! It's good to see that even on a prime time Christmas day tv program, there can still be some comment on society & political events! That's one of the reasons I like sci-fi so much - it's not afraid to pull any punches!!
Anyway, back to the new Doctor, I though David Tennant looks excellent, & certainly has that excentric quality about him that is present in all the "good" previous doctors. Fingers crossed for a good next series, but the trailers at the end looked good, & it was nice to see K9 again!! :D :D |
